Bristol Film and Video Society
The Holiday Video Competition

This may be on any subject but must have been shot on the producer's holiday. The winner will receive the Jack Baker Trophy and a prize of £20. The Tripper's Trophy and a prize of £10 will be awarded to the entry placed second.

Rules
  1. The competition is open only to producers who are members or groups of members of the Bristol Film and Video Society.
  2. No entry may be submitted to this competition if it has been entered in the Annual Trophy competition within the preceding 12 months.
  3. Entries should be submitted in PAL TV standard, preferably on: Mini-DV cassette or DVD.
  4. Entries may be submitted on VHS or S-VHS cassette but these may be transferred to DV for screening. Time must be allowed for the transfer.
  5. Entries must be clearly marked with their title and aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9).
  6. Entrants may submit one or more entries to the competition.
  7. The entry shall be handed to the Competition Secretary or other designated Officer of the Society not later than the meeting of the Society prior to the competition.
  8. The entry shall not exceed 20 minutes in duration.
  9. The Society reserves the right to show only a part of the entry in the event that there is insufficient time for a complete screening on Competition evening.
  10. The Society reserves the right not to award all or any prizes in the event that, in the opinion of the Judge(s), no entry reaches an adequate standard.
  11. The competition will be judged by the audience on Competition evening. Marks will be awarded from 1 to 10 for overall excellence (10 being best). Audience members who complete an assessment form must be present for, and allocate marks to, all films shown. No fractions of marks are permitted.
  12. The competition entries will be assessed by an experienced member or members of the Society appointed by the Committee.
  13. The decision of the judge(s) is final.
  14. Competition entrants must advise the Competition Secretary at the time of submission of the entry if they DO NOT wish their film to be included in any selection of BFVS members' films intended to be shown to other clubs.
  15. All material in the entry (sound and visual) must be the copyright of the
    entrant(s) or be royalty-free or licensed for public performance.
