- The competition is open only to producers who are members or groups of members of the Bristol Film and Video Society.
- No entry may be submitted to this competition if it has previously been placed (1st, 2nd or 3rd) in either the Tripper's Trophy OR the Holiday Video Competition OR the Annual Trophy competition. Previously entered films which have been substantially re-edited or altered are acceptable.
- Entries should be submitted in PAL TV standard, preferably on: Mini-DV cassette or DVD.
- Entries may be submitted on VHS or S-VHS cassette but these may be transferred to DV for screening. Time must be allowed for the transfer.
- Entries must be clearly marked with their title and aspect ratio (4:3 or 16:9).
- Entrants may submit one or more entries to the competition.
- The entry shall be handed in to the Competition Secretary or other designated officer of the Society, not later than 15 minutes before the start of the competition.
- The entry shall not exceed 5 minutes in duration.
- The competition will be judged by the audience on Competition evening. Marks will be awarded from 1 to 10 for overall excellence. (10 being best). Audience members who complete an assessment form must be present for, and allocate marks to, all films shown. No fractions of marks are permitted.
- Competition entrants must advise the Competition Secretary at the time of submission of the entry if they DO NOT wish their film to be included in any selection of BFVS members' films intended to be shown to other clubs.
- All material in the entry (sound and visual) must be the copyright of the entrant(s) or be royalty-free or licensed for public performance.
